Indian Americans for Burlington host “Threads of India” Diwali event

Diaspora community organization, ‘Indian Americans for Burlington’ (IAB) hosted a Diwali celebration, "Threads of India," at Burlington Commons, attracting over 1,200 guests.
The event highlighted Indian culture and traditions through a series of engaging performances and activities, for attendees of all ages.
The celebration featured cultural performances from groups such as Dhol Tasha, Flower Yoga, Tarana School of Kathak, Gurukul, and Dancing Super Moms. Various artists showcased India's diverse traditions through dance and music.
In recognition of their community service, five New England organizations—Vision-Aid, FIA-NE, Ekal Vidyalaya, HSS, and Women Who Win—were honored. Women Who Win, a group that supports female leadership and mentorship, received an Excellence Award for its efforts in empowering women.
The event also featured a fashion show where IAB volunteers modeled traditional sarees from different Indian regions, emphasizing the diversity of Indian weaves in accordance with the theme. IAB collaborated with the South Asian Student Association (SASA) at Burlington High School to enhance the cultural display.
Emcees Ashneel Ejenkar, Rishita Ravi, Aaria Madan Nagpal, Vaidehi Pathak, and Akshara Agrawal led the event with interactive questions centered around the theme. Raffle prizes sponsored by local businesses added excitement to the event, with attendees eagerly participating throughout the day.
The event's success was attributed to the dedication of the IAB executive committee, led by president Deepa Agrawal, along with treasurer Atul Bhammar, secretary Smita Kapadia, and other key members.
