The Consulate General of India in New York on April 7 hosted a special yoga session at the One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the United States, to mark the commencement of the 75-day countdown to the 11th International Day of Yoga.

Consul General Binaya Pradhan inaugurated the session at One World Observatory, on the 102nd floor of the iconic building,  highlighting yoga as a symbol of resilience, peace, and unity.

The session was led by Ruchika Lal of the Art of Living Foundation, who guided participants through yogasanas, meditation, and breathwork. Lal noted the emotional and symbolic significance of the location, stating that a site once marred by tragedy now serves as a beacon of healing through yoga.

In a post on X, the Consulate described the observatory as a “symbol of resilience and hope,” uniting people in a shared commitment to health and harmony. The session was attended by members of the Indian Diaspora and friends of India, students and yoga enthusiasts.
