San Francisco: In a stunning celebration of wellness and cultural heritage, the Consulate General of India in San Francisco hosted the 10th International Day of Yoga at Crissy Field Beach, with the iconic Golden Gate Bridge veiled in a soft fog as a backdrop. This event, held on June.21, marked a significant milestone in recognizing yoga globally as a holistic practice for health and peace.
The morning began with a warm welcome from Consul General Dr K Srikar Reddy, who emphasized the transformative benefits of yoga for physical and mental well-being. Addressing a gathering of diverse participants, including local dignitaries such as members of the Consular Corps and the Chief of Protocol for the City of San Francisco, Maryam Muduroglu, Dr Reddy highlighted the event's importance in fostering community and cultural exchange.
"Yoga is a gift from India to the world, and its practice brings people together, promoting harmony and well-being," said Dr Reddy. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the event's supporters, including the California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine, SBI, and ICICI Bank, whose contributions were instrumental in organizing the celebration.
The highlight of the day was an invigorating yoga session where participants, from beginners to seasoned practitioners, engaged in a series of asanas guided by the Common Yoga Protocol. The rhythmic flow of postures, set against the tranquil backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, created a serene and meditative atmosphere.
