Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Chalo India Global Diaspora campaign in Kashmir on Mar. 7. This campaign was simultaneously initiated in all Indian embassies and high commissions worldwide.
The Indian Consulate in New York hosted an event on the program attended by Consul General Binaya Pradhan. He “encouraged members of the Indian Diaspora to act as Incredible India’s ambassadors and inspire their US friends & families to visit and explore India’s diversity and beauty,” the Consulate said in a post on X.

This initiative follows the Prime Minister's call for members of the diaspora to encourage at least five non-Indian friends to visit India as tourists. He also urged non-resident Indians to visit India themselves and contribute to establishing the country as a premier tourist destination.
“With more than 3 crore (30 million) overseas Indians, the Indian diaspora can serve as a powerful catalyst for Indian tourism, acting as cultural Ambassador,” an official statement from his office noted.
