Indian cricketers give ‘crash course’ to American diplomats in Mumbai ahead of T20 World Cup

In anticipation of the upcoming mega event, American diplomats deployed in Mumbai connected with a few Indian cricketers to gain insight into the basics of the sport. Highlights from the session were shared on the official social media account of the US Consulate in Mumbai.
After the exhilarating IPL season, cricket fans will turn their attention to the international stage as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup commences on June.2. This prestigious tournament will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies, representing a historic moment for America as it hosts a major cricket competition for the first time ever.
“As they head to the United States for the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, Indian cricketers Mohammed Siraj, Utkarsha Pawar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Jitesh Sharma teamed up to teach our American diplomats the nuts and bolts of cricket. Did our diplomats live up to the challenge? Find out!” the Consulate said in a post on X.

The video begins with American diplomats expressing their appreciation for Indian culture. One diplomat shares her love for "desi food", while another highlights the diverse range of festivals celebrated in the country. The conversation then shifts to cricket, acknowledging its status as one of India's most beloved sports.
With limited knowledge of the game, members of the US Consulate expressed their interest in participating in a "Crash Course of Cricket" before the T20 World Cup arrives in the United States. In the next frame, Indian cricketers are seen joining the session.
