The Indian Diaspora Council (IDC) has extended its congratulations to the 2025 Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awardees who will be honored during the valedictory session of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) on Jan. 9 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The award, India’s highest recognition for overseas Indians, is conferred by President Droupadi Murmu to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and organizations established by them in celebration of the exceptional achievements in various fields, both in India and abroad.
“Congratulations to the 2025 Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awardees for your outstanding achievements,” said Nicole Bissessar, director of community cultural affairs, Indian Diaspora Council.
Christine Carla Kangaloo, president of Trinidad and Tobago, is the chief guest for this year’s event. Kangaloo, the second woman to serve as president of her country, has also held distinguished roles as Senate president and vice president. She assumed the presidency on March 20, 2023.
This year, a total of 27 individuals have been selected for the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award, representing a diverse range of accomplishments across various fields, including community service, science, business, and arts. Among the honorees are three Indian Americans.
The award ceremony on Jan. 9 will spotlight the honorees’ contributions to enhancing India’s image internationally and their efforts in promoting global development.
