The Embassy of India in Budapest commemorated the 78th Independence Day of India with a flag-hoisting ceremony followed by a cultural program at the Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre (ASCC).

Ambassador of India to Hungary Partha Satpathy officiated the proceedings, beginning with the ceremonial hoisting of the Indian national flag, accompanied by the singing of the national anthem. He also delivered the President of India’s Independence Day address, underscoring the day’s significance and highlighting India’s democratic principles.

In his remarks, Ambassador Satpathy expressed his appreciation for the presence of dignitaries, members of the Indian diaspora, and Hungarian friends of India who joined in the celebrations.

The cultural segment of the event, organized by ASCC, featured an array of performances that showcased the diversity and richness of Indian cultural heritage. Aniruddha Das, a teacher at ASCC, along with students and members of the Indian community, presented classical dance forms such as Odissi and Kuchipudi, alongside folk dances.

Musical performances included guitar and violin pieces, further demonstrating the depth of India’s artistic traditions. In a gesture of cultural exchange, the event also featured a performance by the ’Alpenrose dance group’ from the Kós Károly Community Center and Library, led by Tamás Reich. The group’s participation added a unique dimension to the celebrations, reflecting the strong cultural ties between India and Hungary.

The program concluded with enthusiastic renditions of patriotic slogans such as ’Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ’Vande Mataram,’ which resonated through the auditorium, energizing the audience.

The Independence Day celebrations at the Indian Embassy in Budapest not only highlighted India’s unity in diversity but also reinforced the enduring friendship between India and Hungary, symbolizing the close ties that continue to strengthen between the two nations.
