This amnesty program is in effect from March 17 to June 17, coinciding with the month of Ramadan. Expatriates residing in Kuwait without legal documentation can regularize their status by paying fines of US $6.60 (2 Kuwaiti Dinar) per day, with a maximum limit of US $1980 (608 KD).
Those unable to pay fines have the option to leave the country without facing penalties, but they must adhere to new procedures if they intend to return. The Kuwaiti government has emphasized that failure to comply with these directives during the amnesty period may lead to deportation and legal consequences.
Residents encountering administrative hurdles or legal issues have the opportunity to appeal to the Residency Affairs Department for evaluation and assistance.
Though exact figures are undisclosed, it is believed that tens of thousands of expatriates are currently residing unlawfully in Kuwait. The previous amnesty period was granted in early 2021.
This initiative aims to address residency violations by offering individuals an opportunity to either rectify their status or depart from the country without facing financial penalties within the designated time frame.
