Indian equestrian Anush Agarwalla secures historic Olympic berth

Indian equestrian Anush Agarwalla clinched the nation's first-ever Olympic quota in dressage for the Paris 2024 Olympics. He achieved this feat with his horse Sir Caramello Old.
Riding his horse, Agarwalla showcased his skills in four International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) events, earning the spot for India. The performance scorecard read 73.48 percent in Poland, 74.4 percent in the Netherlands, 72.9 percent in Germany, and 74.2 percent in Belgium.
The 24-year-old rider previously secured a bronze, the first individual medal in dressage at the Asian Games 2023.
Expressing gratitude, Agarwalla wrote on X, “What a historical moment this is!! I am very proud and grateful to have been successful in officially securing an individual quota for India at the Paris Olympic Games.” He also thanked his coach Hubertus Schmidt and family for their support.

Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, acknowledged Agarwalla’s efforts, posting “Kudos to the incredible efforts of Anush Agarwalla & his mate, Sir Caramello, for securing India's first-ever quota in the Dressage event at the Olympic Games. Their relentless dedication has earned Bharat a prestigious spot in the Equestrian- Individual Dressage event at the upcoming Paris Olympics.”
