The Indian Ministry of External Affairs  has announced the launch of the Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) for the academic year 2024-25.

The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to children of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) pursuing undergraduate courses in Indian universities and institutes.

The programme covers tuition fees, admission fees, and post-admission charges, offering significant financial relief to eligible students. First introduced in 2006-2007, the program has undergone several revisions, including its expansion to diaspora applicants from all countries.

Additionally, 50 percent of the seats in each category are reserved for female applicants, and medical students pursuing undergraduate courses have been included under the scheme.

The MEA has urged eligible candidates to apply at the earliest, with a special emphasis on students admitted to undergraduate courses in various disciplines during the 2024-25 academic session.

The deadline for submission of duly completed applications has been extended to Dec.25, 2024. Detailed SPDC guidelines and the application form are available on the Consulate’s website.
