Indian Mission In Atlanta condemns student’s brutal murder
Immediate consular assistance was provided to Saini's family, including arrangements for repatriating his mortal remains.

The Consulate General of India (CGI) in Atlanta has expressed condolences over the death of Indian national Vivek Saini, who was recently hammered to death by a homeless man in Georgia.
In a statement, the Consulate condemned the brutal incident and affirmed that the US authorities had arrested the accused, Julian Faulkner, and a thorough investigation is underway. They also informed that consular assistance was provided to Saini's family, including arrangements for repatriating his mortal remains to India.
“We are deeply anguished by the terrifying, brutal, & heinous incident that led to the death of Indian National/student Vivek Saini and condemns attack in the strongest terms. It is understood that the US authorities have arrested the accused and are investigating the case,” their post on X read.
The Consulate got in touch with the family of Mr Saini immediately after the incident, provided all consular assistance in sending the mortal remains back to India, and remains in touch with the family. 2/2@MEAIndia @IndianEmbassyUS

Saini was a part-time clerk at a store in Georgia, where he had been helping the accused homeless man by providing him with food and clothes. However, the situation took a grim turn when the 25-year-old MBA graduate had to warn Faulkner to leave the store or face the authorities. In a fit, Faulkner brutally attacked Saini brutally with a hammer, resulting in his death.
Indian Students deaths abroad
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that, as of December 7, 2023, 403 Indian students studying abroad had lost their lives since 2018 due to various causes, including natural reasons, health issues, and accidents.
The MEA data disclosed that Canada witnessed the highest number of tragic incidents with 91 student deaths, while other countries such as Russia, the UK, and Australia also reported significant figures.
In response to a parliamentary inquiry, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan outlined the Indian government's commitment to the safety and security of Indian students abroad. He also highlighted proactive measures, including regular interactions with students and closely monitoring their lives abroad.
“Our Missions and Posts remain vigilant and closely monitor the well being of students. In case there is any untoward incident, it is immediately taken up with the concerned authorities of the host country to ensure that the incident is properly investigated and the perpetrators are punished,” he added in a statement.
