The Indian Mission in Canada's Toronto on Dec.11 expressed shock and deep concern over the tragic killing of a 26-year-old student, Pritpal Singh, in Brampton.
The Consulate General of India in Toronto released a statement on X, calling the incident a "cold-blooded gunning down" and offered condolences to Singh’s family. The consulate assured that all possible assistance is being extended to the bereaved family during this tragic time.

Pritpal Singh, who had moved to Canada five months ago as an international student, was living with his brother, Khushwantpal Singh, in Brampton. Both were preparing to begin plumbing courses at Humber College in January 2024.
The Peel Regional Police reported that Singh and another man were shot outside their residence on Odeon Street at around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 4. Singh succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds at the scene despite life-saving efforts, while his brother survived with non-life-threatening injuries and is recovering in the hospital.
Authorities suspect the incident was a targeted attack, potentially linked to another shooting in Caledon that occurred 30 minutes later, reports said. Investigations are ongoing, and police are collaborating with the Ontario Provincial Police to establish connections between the two shootings.
The Indian consulate has conveyed its concern to Canadian authorities and urged a thorough and swift investigation.
