Indian-origin activist wins Global Citizen Prize
The winners will attend a summit on May 1 and 2 in New York City

Global Citizen, an advocacy organization has named Indo-Fijian Vishal Prasad among the five recipients of the its annual Global Citizen Prize. He will be honoured during the Global Citizen NOW summit in New York City on May 1, 2024.
Prasad, a campaign director of Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change (PISFCC), Fiji, was recognized for his commitment to safeguarding the environment and battling poverty.
A graduate in Politics and Law from the University of the South Pacific, Prasad has been active in the International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion (ICJAO) campaign since 2020. He has advocated against climate change, by being a Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior in Suva, Fiji.
Commenting on the significance of supporting young leaders, Liza Henshaw, President of Global Citizen, emphasized the importance of celebrating individuals like Vishal Prasad, who dedicate their lives to uplifting vulnerable communities.
Global Citizen NOW, will be a two-day summit in New York City, where they will present awards to the winners, providing them a year-long program of support. Moreover, they would also receive a cash grant prize to enable their organization’s growth.
The Global Citizen Prize recognizes individuals who champion and elevate their communities most vulnerable, taking actions to end extreme poverty, while fostering social change across the world.
