Indian-origin CEO unveils Crown Coin in honor of Queen Elizabeth II
This ‘objet d'art’ represents a harmonious blend of master craftsmanship and exceptional materials.

In honor of Queen Elizabeth II's death anniversary, East India Company CEO Sanjiv Mehta, who hails from India, unveiled a magnificent diamond and gold Crown Coin. The remarkable creation known as "The Crown" took 16 months to complete and is estimated to be worth around $23 million, making it the most valuable coin in history.
“The Crown was meticulously handcrafted: the diamonds were painstakingly cut and individually placed to fit seamlessly within the design, while two distinct settings were used to mirror the flowing fabric of the British Union Jack,” the East Indian Company said. “The result is a truly unique design that captures the aesthetic essence of the Commonwealth while honouring the East India Company's deep engagement with these places,” it added.
The coin features 6,426 diamonds that were obtained in an ethical manner. It includes eleven 24-carat gold coins, all dedicated to the memory of Britain's longest-reigning monarch, who passed away at the age of 96 on September 8 last year.
Additionally, it is made up of ten 1-ounce coins that surround a central 1-kilogram coin, all of which are set in a delicate diamond lattice. The production of this masterpiece utilized a total of 3.6 kilograms of gold, and the numerous diamonds were meticulously inspected and assessed for their cut, clarity, colour, and carat by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Expert artisans and craftspeople from eight different countries worked together to create "The Crown" coin.
