Fondazione Pangea ETS, an Italian non-profit dedicated to combating gender-based violence and empowering women, has received a significant financial contribution from Canadian entrepreneur and philanthropist Angel Mehta.
Mehta, who is of Indian origin, is known for his long-standing commitment to supporting initiatives related to women’s rights, education, and the fight against sexual violence. The donation aims to bolster Pangea’s programs, which provide critical services such as legal aid, counseling, and socio-economic reintegration for women survivors of violence.
"I was thrilled to see the work being done by Fondazione Pangea to support victims of domestic violence in Italy," said Mehta, emphasizing his admiration for the foundation's dedication. "It was clear to me that Simona and her team are devoted to their mission."
Having relocated to Italy in 2018 after a two-decade career as CEO of Sterling-Hoffman, an executive search firm serving North America’s technology and life sciences sectors, Mehta has been actively involved in philanthropy. His prior contributions have supported initiatives in India and globally, focusing on education for girls and trauma recovery for survivors of violence.
Simona Lanzoni, vice president of Fondazione Pangea, highlighted the importance of Mehta’s support. "Angel’s support is a testament to the shared vision of a society where every woman can live without fear," Lanzoni said. "With this donation, we can extend vital resources to more women, enabling them to rebuild their lives and thrive."
Fondazione Pangea, which was founded in 2002, has provided financial literacy, microcredit, and professional training programs that have empowered tens of thousands of women. The organization collaborates with local associations in Italy, Afghanistan, and India, advocating for gender equality and social development.
