An Indian-origin family in New Jersey was found dead on October 4, by Plainsboro police who responded to a welfare check call at the family's residence. Authorities suspect a murder-suicide and the investigation is being overseen by County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.
The deceased were identified as Tej Pratap Singh (43), Sonal Parihar (42), their 10-year-old son, and six-year-old daughter. Preliminary investigations suggest that the husband may have taken his own life after murdering his wife and children, WABC TV reported.
An initial investigation conducted by Detective Will Atkinson of the Plainsboro Police Department and Detective Javier Morillo of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has concluded that there is no perceived threat to the public stemming from this tragic incident.
The Mayor of Plainsboro, Peter Cantu, responded to the event stating, “We are all saddened by this tragic event. What happened in our community is beyond comprehension.” Chief Eamon Blanchard of the Plainsboro Police Department said in a statement, “Please be assured that this is an isolated occurrence and there are no additional concerns for the safety and well-being of the community related to this incident.”
According to WCBS TV, the parents were described as a happy couple, and both were employed in the information technology sector, with one of them working in human resources.
