Indian-origin Member of Parliament Murali Pillai has been appointed as the Minister of State for Law and Transport of Singapore.
The announcement came as part of the unveiling of the new cabinet under Singapore's incoming Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. Pillai is expected to be sworn in on Jul.1.
The 56-year-old has previously served as a lawyer and demonstrated a strong commitment to public service. In addition to Pillai's appointment, other prominent Indian-origin politicians will maintain their pivotal roles in the cabinet.

The announcement of the new cabinet was made by the Prime Minister’s Office on May.13 ahead of Lawrence Wong's formal swearing-in ceremony on May.15.
