Harshandeep Singh, a 20-year-old Indian-origin student, was shot and killed on Dec.6 in Edmonton, Canada. Singh was working as a security guard.
He was found in an unresponsive state by police in a stairwell of an apartment building located at the intersection of 106 Street and 107 Avenue. Authorities had responded to reports of a gunshot at the scene.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) quickly arrived, provided first aid, and transported Singh to a nearby hospital. However, he was declared dead upon arrival. Singh’s death has been confirmed as a homicide, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) arrested two individuals on Dec.7, Evan Rain and Judith Saulteaux, in connection with the incident. Both have been charged with first-degree murder. A weapon was also recovered during the arrest, though details of the weapon's type have not been disclosed. Police believe no others were involved in Singh's death.

EPS identified the victim publicly, stating that the release of his name was done to assist in the investigation and address public safety concerns related to the case. The police have assured that Singh’s death is being thoroughly investigated by the EPS Homicide Section.
An autopsy of Singh’s body is scheduled on Dec.9, and authorities are continuing their efforts to uncover the events that led to this tragic loss. Local authorities have called for anyone with additional information to come forward.
