Indian restaurant in Houston gets one Michelin Star
The restaurant, amongst 6 Michelin-star restaurants in Huston, remains committed to crafting innovative dining experiences that celebrate the diverse flavors, art, and history of India.

Musaafer Indian Restaurant, situated in Houston’s Galleria, has received a Michelin star, establishing it as a distinguished venue for Indian cuisine in the United States.
According to the Michelin Guide, a restaurant is rated with one star based on consistency, ingredient quality, harmony of flavors, mastery of techniques and the personality of the chef expressed through cuisine. This is the first time the Michelin Guide has rated restaurants in Texas.
Owners Shammi and Mithu Malik, along with executive corporate chef Mayank Istwal, expressed gratitude for the prestigious honor and thanked the Houston community for its support.
"We are deeply grateful to Michelin for this recognition of one coveted star, which reflects the dedication, passion, and tireless efforts of our entire Musaafer family," said Shammi Malik,. "This honor reaffirms our commitment to delivering an unparalleled dining experience inspired by the rich culinary heritage of India."
Mithu Malik emphasized the restaurant’s connection to Houston, crediting the local community for Musaafer’s success. "Our journey at Musaafer has been made possible by the tremendous support from our local community here in Houston. The love, enthusiasm, and adventurous spirit of our guests have been the backbone of our success, and we are profoundly thankful for their continuous encouragement," Malik said.
Chef Istwal shared his pride in being part of Houston’s thriving dining culture, adding, "We feel incredibly honored to stand among so many talented chefs and restaurateurs in this vibrant city, and we are excited to see Houston's dining culture continue to flourish."
The restaurant’s Michelin star underscores Houston’s growing reputation as a culinary hotspot. Musaafer joins the ranks of celebrated dining establishments in Houston, elevating the city’s status on the global culinary map.
