Police authorities confirmed on June.4 that Nitheesha Kandula, a 23-year-old Indian student originally from Hyderabad, who had gone missing in California last week, has been found safe. Kandula, a student at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), was reported missing on May.28.
John Guttierez, Chief of Police at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), provided an update through social media. “The missing student identified in this bulletin who was reported missing on May 28, 2024, in Los Angeles, has been located and is safe!” he said in a post on X.
He, however, did not reveal any other details about the case.

Before her disappearance, she was last seen in Los Angeles, California, on May.28. According to the missing persons report, Kandula was driving a California-licensed Toyota Corolla.
After Kandula was reported missing, the police encouraged anyone with information about her whereabouts to step forward. However, even after she was found, the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain unclear.
While Nitheesha Kandula was located within a week, under the vigilant watch of the police, the same cannot be said for some other students. In April, Mohammed Abdul Arfath, a 25-year-old student from Hyderabad enrolled at Cleveland University, was discovered deceased in Cleveland after being reported missing since March. Similarly, Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi, aged 26, has been missing in Chicago since May.2.
