Though their numbers were small, Indian startups, as well as established technology players, leveraged the annual CES show ( formerly Consumer Electronics Show) which winds down its 2024 edition in Las Vegas,US, on Jan.12.
The Indian-origin innovations they unveiled at what has become the largest annual global showcase of emerging consumer electronic trends and solutions, filled some crucial gaps in niche areas like vehicle telematics, ‘connected’ cars and smart wearables.
Here are three that drew a good visitor response in Las Vegas this week:
Among its many verticals, the Bengaluru headquartered iWave Systems Technologies, works to equip Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the fast changing digital automotive environment. AT CES, the company showcased a Telematics Gateway-- a smart vehicle diagnostics system that allows users to remotely monitor the key parameters of a vehicle.
Also launched was a Telematics Connect Hub for Electric Vehicles, which helps visualise driver and vehicle performance while gathering actionable insights on the battery health, charging schedule, EV station's analytics, routing, and dispatch workflow. Their recent solutions on display included smart monitoring of off-highway vehicles meant for rugged terrain.
The CES booth of Indian IT bellwether Wipro highlighted the huge potential for software-defined vehicles and how OEMs will be able to monetize the reams of data these vehicles will provide. Wipro’s flagship solution is its Cloud Car Ecosystem which enables auto manufacturers to achieve software-defined innovation at speed and scale.
Also showcased at CES was Wipro’s ACES (Autonomous, Connected, Electric and Shared Mobility) leadership, how Industry 4.0 can improve automotive manufacturing
Ultrahuman is an emerging Indian startup that has created a niche for itself in smart wearables – specifically with its Ring AIR, a smart ring that monitors the wearer’s health and fitness and has been judged by tech analysts at IDC to be the leading made-in-India player in this arena with 75 percent of the smart ring business in the country.
At Las Vegas, the company launched Ultrahuman Home, a cutting-edge invention that introduces a new capability for individuals to track and enhance, not just their own health but the health of their living spaces. The product provides insights on an individual's external environment including exposure to artificial light, air quality, humidity and noise levels.
Mohit Kumar, founder and CEO of Ultrahuman said, “Using the unique markers from the Home device, we’d be able to link an individual’s health markers (sleep, stress) to the environment (humidity, air quality, temperature). This on-body and off-body health tracking integration is the first time ever in the health monitoring space.”
