Indian teenager creates Guinness Record as World’s youngest CA

Agrawal hails from a small town in India, winning the title at the age of 19.

Nandini Agrawal, hailing from a small town in India, has achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the world's youngest female Chartered Accountant, as recognized by Guinness World Records (GWR). In addition to this incredible accomplishment, she also secured the top position in the CA finals. She was 19 years and 330 days old when she accomplished this milestone, according to GWR.

Agrawal's journey to achieving this record began when she was in the 11th grade, inspired by a visit from a GWR title holder at her school. Determined to set a record that would be challenging for others to surpass, she faced numerous challenges along the way, including difficulties finding an apprenticeship due to her young age. Even smaller firms were hesitant to take her on as an apprentice as she was just 16 years old.

Her journey was fueled by the challenges she faced, which served as motivation for her to achieve her goals. Despite the difficulties she encountered, she employed various study methods to reach her objectives, including online classes, course books, her apprenticeship, and utilizing online resources, GWR stated.

Agrawal began her corporate journey with PwC as an article trainee and has been an integral part of various dynamic teams and work cultures. She boasts three years of experience in working on Statutory audits, Group Reporting, Referred Reporting, IFRS Assignments, Tax Audits, and Forensic Audits. Currently, she holds the position of an Associate Management Consultant at BCG.

“After becoming CA at 19 and my record being approved by India Book of Records, I thought to give it a shot in the Guinness Book of World Records in Feb’2023. The journey post-application wasn’t smooth. With follow-ups and a silence stretching for 6 months, doubt crept in. I almost accepted that it won’t get approved,” Agarwal said in a LinkedIn post. “But at 3:45 PM on a seemingly ordinary day, my phone buzzed with an email notification “Congratulations, now you are Guinness World Records Title Holder”. That moment was electrifying!! Nothing would have been possible if my parents wouldn’t have recognized my capability in the early phase and planned my schooling in the way that I finish my academics at an early age,” she continued
