The Indian women's cricket team secured the gold medal at the Asian Games 2023 by defeating Sri Lanka in the final on September 25.This marked India's second gold medal at the Asian Games 2023, being held in Hangzhou, China.
Batting first, India recovered from early setbacks thanks to Smriti Mandhana's 46 and Jemimah Rodrigues' 42. In 20 overs, they managed to score 116/7. Titas Sadhu's bowling caused Sri Lanka a lot of trouble, and they eventually lost the fight at 97/8, granting India the gold by 19 runs.
Sachin Tendulkar, Indian cricketer, congratulated the women’s team on the win and said, “What a remarkable achievement by our Women’s Cricket Team! Winning gold at the Asian Games is an extraordinary feat. Continue to soar to greater heights!”
The other gold medal for India came from Indian shooters Rudrankksh Patil, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, and Divyansh Singh Panwar. They struck gold and broke a world record in the men's 10m air rifle team final. The men's rowing lightweight double sculls and men's eight teams won silver medals, and the men's pair team claimed bronze.
