A report by London-based property developer Barratt London has revealed that Indians have become the largest group of property owners in the city, surpassing native Brits.
The report highlights the growing influence of Indian-origin residents, non-resident Indians (NRIs), foreign investors, students, and families migrating to the UK for education in shaping London's property landscape.
According to Barratt London, Indians are now the most prominent group of property owners in London, followed by English and Pakistani residents. The report stated that Indians are investing significantly in the property market, with purchases ranging between ₹30 million and ₹47 million.
The findings, shared on social media platform X by BRICS News, sparked widespread discussion. Users responded to the post, which garnered over 14 million views with a mix of humor and reflection, with some framing the development as historical justice. "Colonise you right back," quipped one user, referencing Britain's colonial past. Another added, "They once owned half the world and now they own less than half of London."

Many comments highlighted a sense of poetic justice. "It's just karma... Brits illegally owned India for 200 years, now Indians are owning Britain legally and in a competitive environment," read one post.
