The Indian Development Foundation (IDF), an NGO holding special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, has nominated 18 accomplished Women Social Impact Creators to represent the foundation at the 68th annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68).
These women changemakers represent diverse fields, including fine art, social services, education, science, law, literature, and intellectual pursuits. Despite their varied backgrounds, they all share a common passion and commitment to elevate the NGO to new heights.
The week of Mar. 11 commenced with a meeting invitation extended by Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, Permanent Representative/Ambassador of India to the United Nations, New York. All 17 delegates of the Indian Development Foundation convened with the Ambassador for a sit-down lunch at the Permanent Mission of India office in New York.
The ambassador extended invitations to two delegates, Susan Eapen and Rachana Bhusari, to participate in panel discussions at two side events hosted by India during CSW68.
Bhusari, renowned for her expertise in capital markets and financial sector contributions, addressed the crucial role in pioneering the innovative concept of Social Stock Exchange in India at the "Financing for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment" event hosted by India recently.
Eapen, a globally recognized Indian plant biotechnology scientist ranked in the top 2 percent, and former president of the Indian Women Scientists Association, shared recommendations to address the gender gap in STEAM at the "Women Led Development: Challenges & Enablers for Women’s Leadership" event hosted by India on Mar 19.
Indiaspora, a network of global Indian-origin leaders, hosted the delegates of IDF at the Indian restaurant Gulaabo in midtown Manhattan. The dinner, hosted by Shoba Vishwanathan and Neha Dewan, was included as part of #WomenHistoryMonth.
The delegates also included Usha Venkatraman, an award-winning storyteller, TEDx speaker, author, classical vocalist, puppeteer, radio show host, and founder of Mumbai Storytellers Society. Rachana Bhusari, a capital market expert who played a pivotal role in developing the Social Stock Exchange and Shilpa Ravi, the chairperson of Delhi School of Excellence were also present.
