Reflecting on three decades of learning
The Indo-American Community Federation (IACF) was founded by Jeevan Zutshi of San Francisco in the year 1994
The Indo-American Community Federation (IACF) recently held its annual Unity Dinner, marking their 30th anniversary. The event, themed "Unity through Diversity: Breathing Life into Education," underscored the significance of social and emotional learning in modern education.
The evening commenced with a Bollywood performance by Aerodance and renditions of both the American and Indian national anthems was sung by Tania Gupta. Attendees were treated to a presentation honoring three decades of IACF's contributions, followed by an insightful presentation by 9-year-old Shyla Zutshi titled "Understanding Yoga."

Community leaders at the unity dinner / Special arrangementThe panel discussion moderated by attorney Anjali Zutshi highlighted the SKY Schools program, that focuses on stress management techniques like yoga and meditation. This initiative has been instrumental in training teachers and youth in the USA and globally for over two decades.
Since 2008, these methods have reached over 200,000 young individuals and educators across the Western Hemisphere, spanning regions like South America, the Caribbean, Canada, Mexico.
Panelists included SKY Schools Director Bill Herman, school principal Kasturi Basu, and founder of, Dr. Nilima Sabharwal, founder, Home of Hope, Vivek Prasad, member, Fremont Unified Board of Education and Alameda County Board of Education member, Elaine McDonald.

Speakers including Alam Khydeeja, executive director, California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs (APIA) and Dr. Lokesh Muni, the founder president of “Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti, delivered addresses emphasizing unity and social responsibility. Assembly member Ash Kalra delivered a keynote speech emphasizing diversity's strength.
The evening also featured several prominent guests including Mayors of Fremont, Milpitas, Sunnyvale and Santa Clara; Councilmembers from Fremont, San Jose, Santa Clara; Alameda County Supervisor (CA-1), David Haubert, Santa Clara County Supervisor Otto Lee, representatives from Attorney General of California, Congressman Ro Khanna and many others representing Chamber of Commerce, Boards and Commissions.
The event was attended by over 350 community members and dignitaries from various cities and counties.
