Infosys Foundation, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to organise cultural festivals
The goal is to provide financially backward artists and their communities a platform while supporting the preservation of traditional folk and classical art forms.
Infosys Foundation, the company's philanthropic and corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm, announced the commencement of the second edition of its cultural festivals in eight locations across India in association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to promote India's visual and performing arts.
The second edition of the program, which aim to preserve traditional folk and classical art forms, will give approximately 3,000 artists from various communities a stage on which to display their ability. This year's cultural festivals will also feature dance, poetry, visual art, music, storytelling workshops, and history camps.
To build, unite, and promote the indigenous folk-art communities, the first cultural festival will be held in Chandigarh for a week starting on October 16, 2023. Subsequent festivals will be held in Jaipur, Bengaluru, Pune, Nagpur, Bhubaneshwar, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kolkata. Commenting on the event, Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar, trustee of the foundation, said, “Promoting art, culture and our heritage has been a valued area of work at Infosys Foundation. We are proud of this engagement through which the talent of different artists has been able to get a platform and acknowledgement." H.N. Suresh, director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bengaluru Kendra, added, "I want to convey my heartfelt gratitude to Infosys Foundation for their enduring support in nurturing arts and budding artists from across the country." Notably, this year marks 25 years of association between the two organisations, both of whom have as their goals the preservation and promotion of India's rich cultural legacy.
