Intel names Naga Chandrasekaran as chief global operations officer
Chandrasekaran will work with Foundry leaders to achieve Intel’s first AI-era systems foundry.

California-based CPU and semiconductor manufacturing giant, Intel, has appointed Naga Chandrasekaran as its chief global operations officer, executive vice president, and general manager of its foundry manufacturing and supply chain organization. He succeeds Keyvan Esfarjani, who is retiring after nearly 30 years with the firm.
In the new role, effective Aug.12, Chandrasekaran will oversee worldwide manufacturing operations for Intel Foundry, including fab sort manufacturing, assembly test manufacturing, strategic planning, corporate quality assurance, and supply chain. He will report directly to CEO Pat Gelsinger.
Chandrasekaran comes to Intel from Micron, where he served for over 20 years in various senior leadership roles. Most recently, he led Micron’s global technology development and engineering efforts related to memory technology, advanced packaging, and emerging technology solutions. His experience also includes process and equipment development, device technology, and mask technology.
“Naga is a highly accomplished executive whose deep semiconductor manufacturing and technology development expertise will be a tremendous addition to our team,” Gelsinger said. “As we continue to build a globally resilient semiconductor supply chain and create the world’s first systems foundry for the AI era, Naga’s leadership will help us to accelerate our progress and capitalize on the significant long-term growth opportunities ahead.”
Chandrasekaran holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Madras, master’s and doctorate degrees in mechanical engineering from Oklahoma State University, a master’s degree in information and data science from the University of California, Berkeley, and dual executive MBAs from UCLA-Anderson School of Management and the National University of Singapore.
At Intel, Chandrasekaran will collaborate with other Foundry leaders, including Dr. Ann Kelleher, Kevin O’Buckley, and Lorenzo Flores, to achieve Intel’s goal of creating the first systems foundry for the Artificial Intelligence (AI) era.
