IOCUSA condoles passing of former PM Manmohan Singh
Singh who served as India's prime minister from 2004 to 2014 had been undergoing care for age-related medical conditions.

The Indian Overseas Congress USA condoled the death of Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away aged 92 on Dec. 26.
'India has lost a great statesman, a man of immense intellect with incredible humility,' said George Abraham, vice-chair of the Indian Overseas Congress, USA. "He will be fondly remembered for his outstanding contributions to India's economic and social development."
Describing Sigh as the "chief architect" of India's new economy, the organization credited him forcrearting a "centrally planned, inward-looking, public sector-centered" Indian economy. According to a World Bank report, under Singh's leadership over 200 million Indians were lifted above the poverty level

"What he has accomplished is just phenomenal. This dramatic change paints a picture of a man who is some sort of a revolutionary. If India has entered the 21st century, Dr. Manmohan Singh has much to do with it," the organization said in a statement expressing its sincere condolences to the family and the nation.
Singh is survived by his wife and three daughters.
