India Philanthropy Alliance announces third India Giving Day
After the success of the second India Giving Day in March 2024, the India Philanthropy Alliance will host the third annual India Giving Day on Mar. 14, 2025.

The India Philanthropy Alliance (IPA) has announced to host the third annual India Giving Day (IGD) on Mar. 14, 2025. IPA is a U.S.-based network of nonprofit, philanthropic, and charitable organizations. It mobilizes people and funding in the United States (and elsewhere) for development and poverty-reduction programs in India.
The third annual program is aimed at boosting participation by expanding community events nationwide and building on the success of last year’s Youth Leadership Council to involve young leaders in peer-to-peer fundraising.
The IGD's mission is to increase both the volume and effectiveness of American donations to the country.
The twenty core network organizations of the IPA include Agastya U.S.A., Akanksha Education Fund, Akshaya Patra U.S.A., American India Foundation (AIF), Antara International, Arogya World, Children’s Hope India, Community Pure Water, CRY America, Foundation for Excellence (FFE), Indiaspora, Lotus Petal Foundation, Planet Read, Pratham U.S.A., Project ECHO, Sehgal Foundation, Teach for India U.S., Vicente Ferrer Foundation U.S.A., VisionSpring, and WISH Foundation.
Executive director of IPA, Alex Counts, shared that the first India Giving Day, held in March 2023, was significantly a ‘proof of concept’. The IPA believed the Indian American community would rally behind leading nonprofits if provided with an informative platform highlighting impactful organizations and a dedicated day to celebrate Indian culture and the joy of giving.
The second one, held in March 2024, turned out to be a massive success. The first India Giving Day raised nearly $1.4 million from 1,031 donors, while the second brought in over $5.5 million from 1,770 donors.
One of the major reasons for the second year’s breakthrough was the increase in community events and volunteer fundraising by using IGD's easy peer-to-peer platform. Community events grew from 4 to over 40, and volunteer fundraisers jumped from 36 in the first year to nearly 200.
The organizers plan to keep this momentum going through increased community engagement, incentives, and prizes. Events will range from small home gatherings of 5-10 people to larger regional ones like those in Dallas, Texas, over the last two years.
Starting in 2023 as a partnership between TiE's Dallas chapter and a few local nonprofits, it grew to include seven India Giving Day organizations by March 2024.
India Giving Day has support from the Rural India Supporting Trust, MacArthur Foundation, Bank of America, MasterCard, and others. Nonprofits focused on India's development can register for India Giving Day 2025 until Oct. 31.
