The Chepauk Stadium was illuminated on Tuesday, March 26, by the dominating batting performance of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 63 runs.

The clash between CSK and GT was a rematch of the dramatic 2023 final, which was also won by Chennai. The recent match commenced with CSK's Rachin Ravindra providing a blistering start, hammering 46 runs off 20 balls before falling victim to Rashid Khan in the final over of the powerplay.

Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad also contributed with a brisk 46 off 36 deliveries before departing. Shivam Dube emerged as the star, smashing 51 runs off just 23 balls and helping to set the score at 206/6.

In the second innings, while Sai Sudharsan anchored one end for GT, their chase faltered as they lost wickets in the crucial early overs, leaving them struggling against CSK's dominance. Chahar's early dismissals of Gill and Saha coupled with Mustafizur Rahaman and  Tushar Deshpande’s two wickets ech sent GT packing for 143.

Shivam Dube was awarded the player of the match award for his innings that helped his team gain a comfortable victory. With the win, Chennai solidified its position as the table toppers and continued their streak of winning on their home ground in the 2024 tournament.
