KKR becomes first away team to win in IPL 2024
The Kolkata Knight Riders cruised to an impressive victory at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, effortlessly chasing down the 183-run target set by the Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerged victorious against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their encounter at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday, March 29. KKR won by seven wickets becoming became first away team to win in IPL 2024 and extended their victory streak at the stadium to six games.
RCB had set a target of 183 runs for KKR to chase in the second over. Sunil Narine's performance in the powerplay, where he scored 47 runs, set the momentum for the chase. He was also awarded the Player of the Match award adding extra sparkle to his 500th T20 appearance.

Following Narine's impressive start, Venkatesh Iyer continued the onslaught with scoring 50 runs off just 30 deliveries after coming in at number three.
Despite Iyer's dismissal, skipper Shreyas Iyer remained steadfast and guided KKR to victory with his contribution of 39 runs. Dinesh Karthik’s quickfire innings of 20 runs off eight balls concluded RCB’s innings.
Meanwhile, RCB's innings was anchored by Virat Kohli's performance, where he remained unbeaten with 83 runs off 59 balls. Despite losing their captain Faf du Plessis early on, Kohli, supported by Cameron Green, provided a solid foundation for RCB, accumulating 61 runs in the powerplay.
Kohli's consistency was evident as he secured his second consecutive half-century of the season being the owner of the orange cap for the most runs in the tournament so far. However, the partnership between Kohli and Green was broken when the latter fell to Andre Russell after contributing 31 runs off 21 balls.
Harshit Rana and Andre Russell played pivotal roles for KKR in restricting RCB's scoring during the death overs, ultimately limiting them to a total of 182/6.
The match, marking the 10th encounter of this year's Indian Premier League, was highly anticipated, especially with the return of Gautam Gambhir to the KKR dugout, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the contest.
Beyond the expected showdown between Kohli and Gambhir, individual battles such as Mohammed Siraj versus Andre Russell and Yash Dayal against Rinku Singh further intensified the excitement surrounding the match.
