According to Box Office Worldwide, the latest blockbuster from superstar Rajinikanth, Jailer, has surpassed the $65 million mark globally in just 12 days of release, making it the second-fastest Tamil movie to accomplish this record after the actor’s own sci-fi thriller 2.0. The film, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, received favorable reviews from both critics and viewers for its action-packed plot, charismatic performance by Rajinikanth, and top-charting music by Anirudh Ravichander.

Jailer made history in international markets as well, becoming the first Tamil movie to gross $20 million or more overseas. In nations including the USA, UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Australia, and New Zealand, the movie has performed remarkably well. It created a big impression on the Las Vegas strip as well, as a trailer video was screened to reveal its record-breaking earnings in the USA.

The only movie between Jailer and the title of "highest-grossing Tamil film of all time" is S Shankar's science-fantasy action movie, 2.0 (2018), starring Rajinikanth. Jailer officially crossed the $65 million mark worldwide, surpassing the total collection of Mani Ratnam's epic historical action movie, Ponniyin Selvan: I, which made nearly $60 million over the course of its entire run.

Rajinikanth plays the role of a Jailer who is seeking revenge for the death of his police-affiliated son. Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, and Jackie Shroff all make significant cameos in the movie. Along with Vinayakan, Priyanka Mohan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Vasanth Ravi, the action-packed entertainer also stars Priyanka Mohan.
