Acharya Lokesh receives American Presidential Award

The founder of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharati and World Peace Centre, Jain Acharya Lokesh Muni was bestowed with the prestigious American Presidential Award during a ceremony held at Capitol Hill in Washington on Apr. 9.
This recognition marks Acharya Lokesh as the first Indian monk to receive the Presidential award. Senior Congressman Brad Sherman read the certificate and citation, underscoring the significance of Acharya Lokesh's contributions.

President Joe Biden, in his signed citation, lauded Acharya Lokesh's commitment to advancing global peace, advocating for non-violence and mutual cooperation.
“I congratulate you for your contribution to the public good and congratulate you for your service to this great nation and humanity,” wrote the President.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the American people, President Biden commended Acharya Lokesh for his exemplary leadership and expressed confidence in his continued service to humanity.
“On behalf of the American people, I deeply commend you for your volunteer leadership and the American people have confidence that you will continue to serve humanity in the same way in the future,” he added.
Acharya Lokesh, in his acceptance speech, acknowledged the honor bestowed upon him as a testament to the rich cultural heritage and spiritual values of India, particularly the Jain principles of Lord Mahavir.
Reflecting on the increased responsibility accompanying the award, Acharya Lokesh affirmed his commitment to serving mankind and upholding the ideals of compassion and peace.
“This honor is an honor of Indian culture, spiritual values, Jain principles of Lord Mahavir. It is my honor that on the basis of these values, I have been dedicated to the interest and welfare of mankind for the last 40 years and will try to live up to everyone's expectations in the future,” said Acharya Lokesh.
