The Federation of Jain Associations in North America (JAINA) has unveiled plans for the 23rd Biennial Convention, slated to take place from July 3-5, 2025, in the dynamic city of Chicago. Co-hosted by JAINA and the Jain Society of Metropolitan Chicago, the event aims to provide an enriching and spiritually uplifting experience to attendees.
It is the first initiative by the newly elected JAINA Executive Committee since its inception on January 1, 2024, under the leadership of president Bindesh Shah. Atul Shah, JAINA's first VP, has been appointed as the convener for the convention.
Founded in 1981, JAINA is a non-profit organization serving as the umbrella entity for over 70 Jain centers and temples in the USA and Canada. Operating with a dedicated team of hundreds of volunteers, JAINA functions as a philanthropic, educational, and service-oriented organization.
It serves as the largest Jain organization outside India, representing nearly a quarter of a million Jains in North America. The vision for JAINA was crystallized at the second Jain Convention in New York in 1983. Since then on a biennial basis, JAINA Conventions have consistently convened thousands of individuals worldwide.
Jainism is not merely a religion but a profound way of life embraced by Jains worldwide. With its roots deeply embedded in the rich soil of India, the origins of Jainism can be traced back at least five thousand years, with its largest community of followers residing in the very land where it originated.
