The Jersey Women's Physician Alliance (JWPA) held its 13 annual gala earlier this month in Jersey City bringing around 130 women physicians to celebrate their cultural heritage and embrace the core values of JWPA, which center around promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI).
Hosted by Indian American physicians Chitra Kumar, Sudha Nahar, and their team, the event featured discussions on crucial aspects like work-life balance, leadership roles, and networking opportunities to enhance patient care.
The event's networking sessions allowed participants to meet new people and broaden their professional networks, while the dance performances boosted the celebratory mood. The event also underscored the alliance's commitment to promoting DEI within the medical community, emphasizing the need for equal opportunities and a balanced approach to work and personal life, an official statement noted.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Kumar emphasized the importance of the gala, saying, "This event is not just a celebration, but a testament to our collective strength and commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive medical community." Dr. Nahar echoed this sentiment, adding, "Our goal is to create an environment where every woman physician feels valued and empowered to make a difference."
