Kalpana Shukla has emerged as the first runner-up at the Mrs. Universe Pageant. The grand finale of the 46th year Mrs Universe Pageant took place on October 8, 2023, in Manila, Philippines, where Shukla was crowned first runner-up in a tough competition of 91 participants.
Mrs. Universe is an annual international event for the most honourable married woman. It aims to bridge the gap between fashion, modelling and pageantry.
Adding to the achievement, Shukla also earned the 'best national costume' title. Her ensemble was designed by the talented Designer Melvyn Dominic Noronha who paid homage to her Mrs India UK title.
Grateful to receive the honour, Shukla shared on her Instagram handle, “Grateful and honoured to have won the first runner up of Mrs Universe India UK 2023 title! This win is not just mine, it belongs to every woman who dares to dream and believes in herself.”
The forum, a pinnacle event, required all participants to address the pressing issue of domestic violence. Shukla’s presentation, titled 'Break the Silence,' was executed left a lasting impact on the audience.
Behind the success stands Shukla’s national director Urmi Boruah, who tirelessly worked day and night to ensure Shulka’s brilliance shone through in the pageant.
