Actors Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan, popularly known for their roles in Tanu weds Manu, have reunited for an upcoming pan-India psychological thriller film. Ranaut stated that the film’s production by Trident Arts commenced on November 18, 2023, in Chennai, India.
"Today in Chennai we started filming our new film, a psychological thriller. Other details coming soon. For now, need all your support and blessings for this very unusual and exciting script," she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Their films Tanu Weds Manu (2011) and its sequel in 2015 opened well and even became one of the highest-grossing films of their times. The two actors will be sharing screen space after a gap of eight years.
The upcoming bilingual Hindi and Tamil film is helmed by filmmaker A L Vijay, the director of Ranaut’s previous release Thalaivii. The 44-year-old director is also known for films like Madrasapattinam and Devia Thirumagal.
Ranaut also took to X to post a picture with Superstar Rajinikanth, who surprised her on the sets of her new film. She wrote, “Thalaivar thrilled us with his surprise visit on our set today."
Actor Madhavan, who is yet to join the cast on set was not seen at the event. He was last seen in a web series released on Netflix - The Railway Men and has a Tamil film titled Test coming up in S Sashikanth's direction, co-starring actors Siddharth and Nayanthara.
