Lakshya Sen’s likely Paris qualification to create Badminton history for India
According to the qualification regulations, two shuttlers from a country will be allowed to compete in the same event.

Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen is on track to create history for India with his qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Currently ranked 12th in the BWF Race to Paris classification rankings, Sen’s qualification is yet to be officially confirmed. According to the rules, the top 16 in the BWF Road to Paris rankings on May 1 secure an Olympic berth. India’s H.S. Prannoy, meanwhile, is currently ranked 9th.
If confirmed, Sen will be the second Indian to qualify in the men’s singles event, joining Prannoy. The achievement will mark the first time in two decades that two Indian shuttlers have qualified for the men’s singles event.
In the 2004 Athens Olympics, both Abhinn Shyam Gupta and Nikhil Kanetkar represented India in the same category.
Sen's exceptional performance in the recently concluded All England Badminton Championships significantly contributed to his qualification for the Olympics. As the silver medallist at the Asian Games, he advanced to the semi-final stage of the competition, defeating formidable opponents such as Denmark's Anders Antonsen, who currently holds the third position in the Road to Paris rankings, and Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia, currently ranked tenth.
