Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer, Nissan Motor Co., promoted Lavanya Wadgaonkar as corporate vice president and chief communications officer on April 1.
Wadgaonkar previously served as the vice president of Nissan Global Communications. In the new role , she will be responsible for leading Nissan's communication efforts both domestically in Japan and globally and report to the CEO, Makoto Uchida.
According to the firm's statement, Wadgaonkar will be instrumental as the company looks to implement "The Arc," its new business plan aimed at enhancing value and competitiveness, requiring a focus on building trust and reputation. Additionally, she will maintain her position as the global champion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), advocating for a diverse, supportive, and inclusive workplace environment.
Previously, she played a pivotal role in leading and developing communications and external government affairs functions for Nissan Asia and Oceania.
Wadgaonkar has over 28 years of international experience spanning strategic communications, public affairs, brand management, marketing, and sustainability. Before joining Nissan in 2012, she held leadership roles in communications and marketing at companies such as Lexmark, Reliance, and Eaton.
Wadgaonkar is originally from Hyderabad, India, Wadgaonkar holds a PhD, an MPhil, and a Masters degree from Osmania University.
