Lawmakers condole deaths in tragic DC plane crash

The crash, which sent the aircraft into the Potomac River, has been feared to have left no survivors.

Indian American lawmakers expressed their condolences and called for a thorough investigation following the tragic mid-air collision between an American Airlines regional jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport. The crash, which sent the aircraft into the Potomac River, is feared to have no survivors left.

Rep. Ro Khanna voiced his grief on social media, stating, “My heart goes out to the victims and families impacted by the devastating crash at DCA. Thank you to the first responders doing everything they can to search for survivors.”
 



Rep. Pramila Jayapal criticized former President Donald Trump’s attempt to link the crash to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies, calling it “unsubstantiated and ridiculous.” She stressed the importance of career aviation safety experts and called for a full investigation. “My thoughts are with the victims of the horrific plane crash… This is so heartbreaking, and I’m incredibly grateful for all of the first responders and rescue teams,” she added



Rep. Ami Bera said he was closely monitoring the situation while offering prayers for those affected. “While we await further details, my prayers are with all those impacted by this tragedy, and I am grateful for the swift response from our first responders,” he wrote.

Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi also extended his sympathies, stating, “My heart goes out to all those affected by the tragic accident at DCA. I’m praying for everyone on board, their families, and those helping on the scene as we track the situation.”

Rep. Suhas Subramanyam confirmed that there were no survivors among the 67 people on board. “Keeping the victims and their loved ones in our prayers,” he wrote, adding that he was working with authorities to respond to the tragedy.

Rep. Shri Thanedar described the incident as “devastating” and urged those with loved ones on board to reach out to American Airlines for assistance. “Devastated is an understatement. My heart goes out to all the victims and the families of those impacted by last night’s plane crash in Washington, D.C.,” he posted.

Authorities continue their recovery efforts as investigators work to determine the cause of the collision.
