Lindenwood University appoints Rooji Sugathan as chief information officer

Originally from India, Sugathan earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Loyola College, University of Madras.

Lindenwood University has announced the appointment of Rooji Sugathan as vice president, information management and chief information officer effective Jan. 2, 2025

Sugathan most recently served as assistant vice chancellor for data management and analytics at Washington University in St. Louis, where he implemented transformative data strategies. He also chaired the higher education chief data officers group at Educause, driving collaboration and innovation in data governance across institutions.

“Dr. Sugathan’s extensive experience in data ecosystem management and digital transformation as a strategic senior leader with success in higher education makes him an excellent addition to our team,” said president Lindenwood University John Porter. “His expertise in emerging technologies and cost-benefit analysis will elevate the information technology infrastructure and operations at Lindenwood.”

Sugathan expressed his excitement for the role, stating, “I am honored and absolutely thrilled to accept the position of Vice President, Information Management and Chief Information Officer at Lindenwood University. During my campus visit, I met a group of leaders committed to a mission that puts students first. The leadership team's solid commitment to technology, out-of-the-box thinking, and efforts to solve challenging issues faced by learners and our region were all compelling reasons for me to join the LU leadership team.”

Originally from India, Sugathan earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Loyola College, University of Madras. After moving to the United States nearly 25 years ago, he completed an MBA at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and a PhD from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
