An employee of a local court complex in Harayana allegedly killed three members of his family, including his father, mother, wife and injured his son in Yara village in Kurukshetra district on Dec. 8 before taking his own life.

The deceased who were killed by Dushyant Singh (about 35) have been identified as Naib Singh (55), Amrit Kaur (50), his wife Amanpreet Kaur (32). Their son Keshav (13), who was found unconscious, was the lone survivor.

The incident came to light when, Sahil the cousin brother of Dushyant, discovered the bodies and informed the police. According to reports, Dushyant also left a suicide note, in which he accused Vikram a Canadian citizen and immigration agent, of extorting money and harassing his family.

Kurukshetra superintendent of police (SP) Varun Singla said, “Dushyant was an accused in an (immigration related) case registered in Sonepat district. He had to return the money taken from the persons (who were promised to be sent abroad). He felt aggrieved as he had to return the money which was given to Vikram, the person named in the note. As per family, Dushyant was under depression and he was also taking some medicine to recover from the same.”

“As per the scene of crime, it appears Dushyant slit his father Naib Singh’s neck. There are no bodily injuries on his mother, wife and son. It appears that mother has been smothered while wife strangulated. Son was also strangulated but he felt unconscious, who is out of danger now. Keshav is in shock and is not in position to talk”, said SP Varun Singla.
