Modi&US : 10 Years from M.S.G

In this letter, Jitendra Muchhal reflects on PM Modi's recent address to the diaspora at the Nassau coliseum.

Dear Editor,

September 28, 2014, Madison Square Garden. 22 September, 2024. Nassau Coliseum. A full decade, to the week. These 2 Iconic venues in New York are just 30 miles away. These two dates are mileposts in the historic journey of a leader, a nation and its global rise. The remarkable distance the peoples have covered in so many spheres. (Pic of the two events)

PM Narendra Modi is an exceptional speaker. And when it comes to Diaspora, that too in USA, and that too in New York; adjectives rest where he begins. The way he describes 'Progress Together' for India and USA is so inspiring, every NRI wants to take pride in it.

I will just share one observation. He mentioned in his speech of 'having understood the pulse of diaspora much before he was any public official'. In these 10 years from MSG to NaCo., it has been experienced the most by diaspora, globally. He gauged the deep NRI emotional connect for India, yearning for India's progress and our lineage for a 'Nation on the move'. He rightfully named diaspora 'Rashtra-Doot' and then it is embodied, every which way.

As a diaspora member who got in person opportunity to witness his addresses at MSG, Howdy Modi, White House and then Nassau C , his unique way of sharing India's growth, vision and connecting to our contributions wherever we are creates such a strong bonding. He knows overseas Indians are 'Unity in Diversity' too, so his messaging is diverse, yet aims to unifying all. The thunderous applaud to his speeches reflect the vibrance, energy, optimism which he conveys; representing the new Bharat.

The warmth with which Indian Consulates, Missions support the NRIs and their multitude of associations in US -and globally - reiterate the relationship. Many diaspora socio-cultural-economic groups evolved in last decade itself . 'We matter, the Nation Cares' is such a magnet.

Recognising, respecting and unleashing the soft power of 5 Millions in USA and multi million globally has done wonders. " Even though you have traveled overseas, no sea is deep enough to distance you from your motherland."

Volunteers working to put up 'Modi&US' , as in the so many of his past events globally, is a testament to that deep connect. These events - including Nassau Colisuem - are all funded, organised, managed just by team of selfless volunteers and dedicated organisations. Most do'nt meet PM Modi, yet they serve, support for their motherland. It is a gigantic undertaking of months ; 550 Organisations, 60 buses,14000 attendees, the numbers can go on. We salute them all !

For giving a nation the power to dream, then march full steam ahead to convert those dreams into reality, and to provide 'sense of belonging and inclusion' to Indian diaspora globally,The PM has truly made it "Modi&US".
