Monank Patel to lead US team for ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League
The USA team features a significant number of players of Indian descent, reflecting the strong influence of the Indian diaspora in American cricket.

USA Cricket has announced a 15-player squad for the International Cricket Council (ICC) men’s cricket World Cup (CWC) league 2 series. Indian-origin Monank Patel will captain the squads, with Aaron Jones serving as vice captain.
The ODI matches are set to commence on Aug.11 in Netherlands, with the concluding match set to take place on Aug. 21, while the T201 series is set to commence from Aug. 23 with the same team players.
The USA team features a significant number of players of Indian descent, including Smit Patel, Abhishek Paradkar, Harmeet Singh, Milind Kumar, and Saiteja Mukkamalla, who bring their experiences from Indian cricket to the international stage.
Ravi Timbawala, chair of the USA cricket men’s senior selection panel, highlighted the importance of blending experience with youth in the squad. “Following the remarkable success of the USA Men’s team in advancing to the Super8 Round of the ICC T20 World Cup, our attention is now directed towards the 2024-2026 CWC League 2 cycle. With an array of ODI Cricket matches scheduled in the upcoming months, our aim is to carefully integrate a blend of experience and youthful talent into the team.”
“Given our secured spot in the T20 World Cup 2026, it is imperative that we undertake thorough preparations by nurturing emerging players and expanding our player pool,” he said.
USA Cricket, the national governing body for the sport, aims to lead cricket to new heights in the United States by developing programs that grow the sport at all levels. The inclusion of several players of Indian heritage underscores the growing role of the Indian community in developing and promoting cricket in the United States.
