Monica Shokeen gets International Suffrage Science Award

Monica Shokeen, an associate professor of radiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been awarded the International Suffrage Science Award for Life Sciences.
The award recognizes Shokeen's significant contributions to the field of molecular imaging and her efforts in promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice within the scientific community.
This award inaugurated on the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day, aim to foster a continuous lineage of talented women in science, inspiring others to pursue careers in the field and to ascend to senior leadership roles.
As the vice chair for diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, part of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Shokeen is a prominent figure dedicated to enhancing both the scientific and social landscapes of her institution.
In her role at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR), Shokeen serves as the principal investigator at the Biophotonics Research Center, directs the Molecular Imaging Center, and leads the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice.
Shokeen's extensive research focuses on developing molecularly targeted imaging agents to revolutionize the detection and treatment of cancer, autoimmune, and cardiovascular diseases.
She completed her graduate studies at Kurukshetra University and undergraduate education at the University of Delhi. She serves on the American Association for Cancer Research, the Society of American Asian Scientists in Cancer Research, and the World Molecular Imaging Society, among others.
