MSU professor Aswathy Rai receives national educator award

Rai holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, an M.P.P.A. from Mississippi State University, an M.S. from Madurai Kamaraj University in India, and a B.S. from Bharathiar University in India.

The North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) has presented the NACTA Educator Award to Aswathy Rai, an assistant teaching professor at Mississippi State University (MSU). 

Rai, who is part of the university’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) department of biochemistry, molecular biology, entomology, and plant pathology has been recognized for her dedication and innovative approach to enhancing the educational experience for her students.

Expressing her gratitude, Rai emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts and support from both colleagues and the administration. “This award is a testament to the collaborative efforts of my colleagues and the continuous support from the college administration and the Center for Teaching and Learning at MSU, which enables me to innovate and enhance the learning experience for my students,” she said. 

“It also reflects my students' hard work and enthusiasm, which motivates me to be a better educator every day,” she added. In addition to her teaching and coordinating roles, she is an active member of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Association of Biochemistry Educators.
