Things are not looking too well for arguably the richest and most successful team in the Indian Premier League history, the Mumbai Indians.
While on one hand they have had a poor start to the IPL season it is now being reported that their star player and former captain Rohit Sharma will exit the team after the tournament’s conclusion this year.
The reason for his exit reportedly being his unhappiness with current captain Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. In a viral video at the start of the tournament, the two were seen having an unpleasant argument after their loss to Gujarat Titans.
Under Pandya’s leadership the team has yet to win a match. However, while the team has had poor starts in previous seasons as well, many have questioned Pandya’s on-field decisions with fans even booing him on the field.
Pandya left Gujarat Titans and made the shift to Mumbai Indians this year after leading his former team to back-to-back finals. The leadership change did not sit well with the fans and even a few from the cricketing community who questioned the decision.
Amid speculation of Rohit’s exit, it is also being reported that the team’s management will consider changing their captain in the current season. Their next match is a home game against Delhi Capitals in Mumbai on Apr.7.
