Mumbai tale goes global: Payal Kapadia lands two Golden Globe nods

The film, All We Imagine As Light, is vying for honors in the Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language and Best Direction – Motion Picture categories.

Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia's 'All We Imagine As Light' earned two nominations at the 82nd Golden Globes on Dec.9. The film is a Mumbai-set tale of three women and their friendship and is vying for honors in the Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language and Best Direction – Motion Picture categories.

In the Best Non-English Language Motion Picture category, Kapadia’s film will compete with Emilia Perez (France), The Girl With the Needle (Poland), I'm Still Here (Brazil), The Seed of the Sacred Fig (US), and Vermiglio (Italy).

For Best Director, Kapadia faces competition from Brady Corbet (The Brutalist), Coralie Fargeat (The Substance), Edward Berger (Conclave), Jacques Audiard (Emilia Perez), and Sean Baker (Anora).

Here are the nominees in key categories for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, which will be handed out on Jan.5, 2025.
