Texas A&M University has awarded the Regents Professor honor to Narasimha Reddy, a professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering.

This recognition is the highest faculty honor within the Texas A&M University System, established in 1996 to acknowledge individuals who have made exceptional contributions to their university, agency, and the Texas community.

Reddy, who holds the Truchard Foundation Chair Professorship, is recognized for his expertise in computer networks, storage systems, multimedia systems, and computer architecture. His contributions have placed him among five faculty members from the College of Engineering selected for this honor this year.

Reddy’s career has been marked by numerous accolades, including being named an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Fellow and receiving the National Science Foundation Career Award. His teaching excellence has also been recognized with multiple awards, such as the Achievement Award for Teaching from the Texas A&M Former Students Association and Outstanding Professor honors from the IEEE Student Branch and the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Reddy graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology with a B.Tech in Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering, where he was awarded the Presidential Silver Medal. He later earned an M.S. (1987) and a Ph.D. (1990) in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Robert Bishop, dean of the Texas A&M College of Engineering, commended the Regents Professors for their exemplary contributions. “These faculty exemplify the incredible talent in the College of Engineering. We are grateful for their dedication and the significant advancements they bring to Texas A&M and beyond,” he said.

Reddy’s appointment places him among 323 faculty members who have received the Regents Professor distinction since its inception.
